The project that we present for the rehabilitation of the Santiago Market, we seek more than just building a contemporary piece, we intend to value the great heritage of Linares according to the criteria regarding the conservation of historical-artistic heritage. Fidelity to the origin will be essential, with the following postulates: respect for time, valuation of contributions, cancellation of dissonances and coherent constructive contribution, harmonious in our time, exercised with rationality, that expands and underlines our heritage.
For the construction of this project, the same materials that were used in the traditional construction that the municipality of Linares has shaped throughout history will be used, to guarantee its compatibility and durability. Noble, natural materials: stone, lime mortars in their various varieties, etc. to safeguard the authenticity of its materiality, to not distort the qualities of the building and its harmony, to seek maximum durability and avoid irreversible damage to heritage environments, following both the Krakow Charter (2000) that promotes “the use of traditional materials and of its ancient techniques” such as the Restauro letter of 1987 in order to achieve: “… a duration that tends to be unlimited according to the material conformation of the object considered.”
