The technical and technological context of contemporary society conditions any argument that can be elaborated on the fact, the concept and the discourse of the artisan. The logic of the machine, of the computer and technical process, has supplanted other forms of knowledge relegating them to pure rhetorical exercises. The persuasion of matter, of the tectonic, of what has been constructed throughout contemporaneity, has gradually given way to formal concern. The ‘imperfection’ implicit in the discourse of the craftsman’s logic implies the attempt to find in the place, in the matter, in the work, in the memory, in the teacher and the disciple … the Aaltian pretension of making the architecture more human. Assuming and analyzing these premises at the origin of the project changes and conditions the way of understanding the world of contemporary space.
